Monterey Hostel

another pic from our stop at Point Pinos

While in Monterey, we stayed in a hostel. This was a first for Scott and Owen. We had a private room with a double bed and a bunk bed. It was difficult having all three of us sleep in the double bed, but we made it work.

The main reason we chose a hostel over a hotel was because of the price. We were able to stay in Monterey for three nights for the cost of two nights. I loved that this hostel had lots of common areas. We used the kitchen to make free pancakes in the morning, another cost-saver. We also cooked our own dinner there one night. The Monterey Hostel had puzzles, legos, books and games which kept Owen occupied during down times. Tthe staff there was colorful, giving great recommendations for places to eat and things to see. The patrons weren't as intrusive as a bed and breakfast can be.

Andrew and I met in Monterey when we were both in the Army at language school (DLI, it's up at the Presidio). We were married in Pacific Grove (1993) and got to live there for two glorious years. It sounds like you're having a fantastic time out west! Wish we were there :)
